NVivo Transcription is a paid service with annual subscription or pay-as-you-go options (see QSR website or Transcription online Help for more information). (If you have bought or been assigned a license to Transcription you can also transcribe files using the Transcription website.)
This error generally appear if you are in a country where the Transcription service isn't supported from within NVivo 12. Note that direct integration with Transcription, is only available for NVivo 12 if you are in Europe, Africa or the Middle East, or your first Transcription purchase was before 18 March 2020. Other NVivo 12 users can transcribe their files on the Transcription website(transcription.mynvivo.com), then import the transcripts into NVivo manually.
For step-by-step instructions on how to transcribe audio and video files with MAXQDA, please see our user manual, check out our online video tutorials, or feel free to contact our Customer Service Team. Research is a journey, travel it well!
Users can purchase add-on modules: NVivo Transcription for automated transcriptions, where users can transcribe directly in NVivo (Release 1.0); and NVivo Collaboration Cloud, that uses the cloud to enable small team project sharing and collaboration.
While transcription is often treated as part of the data collection process, it is also an act of analysis (Woods, 2020). When you manually transcribe an interview, for example, you make choices about how to turn the recording of the interview into text, and these decisions shape the analysis you conduct.
I had read online that voice-to-text options are the way to go for transcribing. I did a quick google and found otter.ai which is a voice-to-text transcriber. Otter.AI is good if you want to record the conversation and have it transcribe for you. Sounds almost too good to be true right?
Want to transcribe faster and ramp up your earnings? With a transcription foot pedal, you can control audio playback with your toes, freeing up your fingers for typing. As a new transcriptionist, this is the best way to quickly boost your transcription speed.
The software is expensive and requires yearly licensing even though the main & best features are essentially the same for the last 10 years. The core features are held hostage by QSR's inability to provide backwards compatibility or to allow for sharing between windows and mac.If you want to work in a team look elsewhere - QSR essentially locks your data into the version of nvivo you have and if the entire team is not using the exact same version you are out of luck. It's essentially ransomware. 2b1af7f3a8
